The Real Reason Most People
Lose Money in Crypto.

Let me be honest with you about something most crypto “gurus” won’t say:

The reason most people lose money in crypto has nothing to do with which coin they picked. It has nothing to do with timing the market perfectly. It has nothing to do with not having the right indicators or the best trading bot.

It’s their mindset. Full stop.

I’ve coached over 70 students across every experience level. And the pattern is always the same. The people who struggle aren’t struggling because they lack information. They’re struggling because of how they think about money, risk, and themselves.

The FOMO Trap

You’ve seen it. A coin goes up 300% in a week. Your Twitter feed explodes. Your group chat is going crazy. Everyone’s posting their gains.

And you feel it — that pull. That voice that says “if you don’t get in now, you’re going to miss it.”

So you buy. At the top. Because everyone else is buying.

And then it drops. And you hold, because selling feels like admitting you were wrong. And it drops more. And now you’re down 60% and you don’t know what to do.

This isn’t a market problem. This is a psychology problem. And it’s one of the most common patterns I see — in beginners and experienced traders alike.

“The market doesn’t care about your feelings. But your feelings will absolutely affect your trades.”

The Revenge Trade

You take a loss. It stings. So you immediately open another trade — bigger this time — to “make it back.”

This is called revenge trading. And it’s one of the fastest ways to blow up an account.

The market doesn’t owe you a recovery. It doesn’t know you took a loss. It doesn’t care. When you trade from a place of emotion — anger, frustration, desperation — you are not making rational decisions. You are gambling.

The best traders I know have one rule after a loss: step away. Take a walk. Make a coffee. Come back when you’re calm.

The Paralysis Problem

On the flip side, some people never trade at all. They research endlessly. They watch charts for hours. They read every article. They join every Discord. But they never pull the trigger.

Because what if they’re wrong? What if they lose? What if they look stupid?

This fear of being wrong keeps more people out of the market than any bear cycle ever has. And it’s just as costly — because the opportunity cost of doing nothing compounds just like the losses do.

What Actually Works

Here’s what I teach my students — and what changed everything for me:

A system you trust. When you have clear rules for when to enter, when to exit, and how much to risk — you remove the emotion from the equation. You’re not guessing. You’re executing.

Present-moment focus. The best trade is the one in front of you right now. Not the one you missed last week. Not the one you’re hoping for next month. Right now.

Acceptance of loss. Every trader loses. The difference is that good traders lose small and win big. They accept that losses are part of the process — not a sign that they’re failing.

This is the foundation of everything I teach in the Zen Block program. Not because it sounds nice. Because it works. Because I’ve seen it work, over and over, with students who came to me convinced they just “weren’t good at trading.”

They were good at trading. They just needed to get out of their own way.

Maybe you do too.
